Description: It’s no secret we have an admiration for the 25572 Owl. These Royal Oak’s in our humble opinion are the optimally sized Royal Oak. At 36.5mm it wears more like a 39mm watch. In comparison the original 5402 Royal Oak it wears much heftier in thickness while being smaller in diameter. The Day-Date functionality (the first complication to go into a Royal Oak) is also a key differentiator and adds an additional dimension to the watch. Most people don’t realize that the earliest Owl’s sport a different reference number. 5572ST is often mistaken for the 25572ST and AP only added the additional digit the following year after its introduction in 83. This model has a MK0.5 dial which is seldomly seen even amongst 5572ST 1st year models. We believe some models were released with “Swiss only” dials with thin day and date font. These differ in the MK1 dials in that the later have “Swiss Made” and bold font for day-date lettering.
