Description: The original Royal Oak seldomly needs an introduction. The iconic 39mm case and design by Gerald Genta has found a cult following and largely defined AP’s success into modern times. This A series (first series batch) 5402 has a beautiful black dial that has turned tropical over the years. Case and bracelet have previously been lightly polished but remain thick throughout the case and bracelet. Of the BA (Gold) models there exists less than 736 examples.

Per AP Chronicles:
“Introduced in 1977, the yellow gold version was produced in 736 units, sold between 1977 and 1990. It is available in several dial variants, sometimes gemset. Nine examples were transformed into Model 4187 with gemset bezel rim.

It’s no surprise that these production numbers were done in a time where they were not artificially limited and while the brand was only coveted by ultra enthusiasts for their bold take on watch design.
