1993 Rolex 14270 Explorer – Frozen dial – Unpolished

Description: The 14270 Explorer is the close descendant of the infamous 1016 Explorer. Maintaining the 36mm case, it wears with ease and pairs well with casual jeans or a summer suit. The lack of a thick bezel makes it the ideal discrete sports watch and has recently become a favorite of ours outside the traditional Sub or GMT watch. What makes these tritium lume variants more appealing to us than their later luminova counterparts was the use of tritium and white enamel on the dial. The white enamel stays stark white while the tritium ages to a creamy yellow hue. This contrasts sets the watch apart from all modern Explorers. This one in particular has some patina forming on the dial with a speckled pattern resembling “Space Dust” which can only be see at an angle. The case is excellent on this watch and the lugs and thick and even all around and appears unpolished

Dial: Gloss Dial

Insert: Smooth bezel

Case: Excellent Case appearing unpolished

Bracelet: Steel Oyster
