1984 Rolex Tropical Nipple Dial 16808 Gold Submariner

Description: Perhaps this is the embodiment of why we love nipple dial Rolex’s. The tropical dial is largely believed to be partially caused by the reaction of the dial over long periods of UV exposure. This once blue dial has lost its varnish over the years and has aged into this beautiful Gold sheen dial.  This blue dial variant has been known to have a thin top coating and exposes the yellow dial underneath the blue anodization. How we know this is not water damage is due to the text and crown being in perfect condition and unaffected by the reaction happening underneath. The case has been recently polished to bring back the bevels but remains very thick and even from the crown guards through the lugs. When we say “1 of 1” this is what we are referring to.
