Description: The 1019 is not a watch most watch enthusiasts know very well. It is the 2nd generation Milgauss forming years after the introduction of the 6541 Milgauss. Originally conceived to withstand electromagnetic forces up to 1000 gauss, the Milgauss is at home in a lab environment. Technicians and engineers that worked with strong magnetic forces would often have their mechanical watch movements run fast or slow when subjected to these forces. Using a faraday cage Rolex was able to limit these effects on the Milgauss.
Now what makes the CERN 1019 even more special is that the European org for nuclear research requested this 1019 in a lumeless variant as even small traces of tritium in the watch could possible effect their sensitive instruments. Rolex obliged and what you see here is a lumeless 1019 nicknamed the CERN dial. In its place black indices reside where the tritium use to reside.
The case appears in excellent shape with perhaps minimal polishing in the past. Dial is brushed silver which to us is more ideal as it offers the brushed texture than the matte black variant.
