1967 Rolex 1675/3 Day-Glow Concorde GMT
$13,900
Description: Every once in a while something flies in under the radar that surprises even us. What we have here is not a normal Two-Tone Nipple dial Rootbeer GMT. What immediately jumps out at us are the “Concorde” straight hands that are usually seen in the early 1675/8 GMT’s. This was nicknamed the Concorde due to the straight hands GMT that appeared in a Rolex advertisement featuring the famed supersonic commercial jet. Similarly to how the Submariner, and Sea Dwellers have their association with Comex, we feel these 60’s straight hands GMT’s are just as unique and special.
Although most commonly seen in the 1675/8 gold gmt reference, we have searched and found other 1967 year examples with straight hands but never seen one in the flesh. Seeing how some Concorde GMT’s are fetching $80k plus in auctions, we find the two tone example providing tremendous value.
This GMT is also from 1967 and has the high “T swiss T” dial with matching zinc sulfide tritium mixture seen often in 67 and commonly nicknamed “day-glow” due to it appearing glowing given a strong enough UV source like in bright sunlight. Dial and hands matching https://gmtmaster1675.com/mark-2-brown/ has a great guide to these brown dials and serial ranges.
