1970 Rolex 6265 Black Dial Daytona
$69,500
Description: Rolex’s 6265 earliest variants had no “Daytona” markings on the watch. The infamous R.O.C (Rolex Oyster Cosmograph) featured screw down pushers vs their pump pusher siblings which allowed it to be water resistant by being able to lock down the pushers. These were much more desirable not only from a utility standpoint but also visually as it increased its visual size. This example has an excellent sharp case with an equally beautiful full and yellow lume plots. Screw-down pushers are newer MK2 instead of Mk1’s but unlike most other 4-digit Daytona’s, this watch passes 2 bar’s of pressure. Since we are talking about the Rolex that ties closest to racing, it’s safe to make a car analogy. We think of these early pre-daytona’s like a 911 GT3 Touring / or 911R. It doesn’t have the bold big red “Daytona” markings, but it is every bit as potent, and that is why we love this sleeper 6265, a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
