Description: 1978 Rolex 1665 sea-dweller. Excellent collectors grade 1665 with recently polished case with excellent beveling. The 1665 reference was the first dive watch to feature a helium escape valve. This allowed divers to dive to further depths and resurface without fearing their crystals popping off due to helium gasses not escaping. Excellent super dome crystal. Patina on the lume is nice and even yellow patina. The rail dial variant of this 1665 is in reference to the 3 lines of text under “Sea-Dweller” lining up forming a nice even gap between the texts. Perhaps the rarest of the Great White Sea-Dweller dial variants, this 1665 ticks every box.
